Backlink Strategy #1: Insider Tactics

Posted by admin in SEO, Search Engine Optimization on 02 25th, 2010 | No Comments

One of the insider strategies used by successful online
marketers when creating their backlink campaign is in
using backdoor methods of generating a massive amount
of solid backlinks from free online sources.
One of the easiest ways to go about doing this is by
focusing on community sites that allow members to
create their own blogs and profile pages.
Not only will these sites provide you with an unlimited
opportunity to feature as many backlinks as possible,
but you can also add in anchor text, RSS feeds, and
blogrolls featuring even more backlinks.
It’s truly a remarkable way of developing solid
backlinks from authority websites. Best of all, if you
follow this strategy correctly, you will minimize any
risks of having your links removed by moderators and
webmasters.
There is community software available online that is
used by many of the leading websites. From Oprah to
The Gap, you can literally generate a backlink from
HUNDREDS of ridiculously popular websites absolutely
free.

This is an insider tactic rarely revealed to the
general public.
Think about it, once you find out how to create an
unlimited supply of solid backlinks from some of the
most popular communities and websites online, are you
going to be eager to share it with the world?
I didn’t think so ;)
Here’s exactly how to do it:
One of the leading community software packages that
most of these massive websites use is available at
http://www.Pluck.com and http://www.kickapps.com
By visiting
http://www.pluck.com/customers/industry.html as well as
http://www.kickapps.com/customers you will be able to
browse through their client directory.

Backlink-Insider-Tactics

The reason this is so important to you, is that it will
reveal hundreds of websites that run the Pluck
community software, meaning that you will be able to
create a backlink on EVERY single client site featured
within these pages!
You can search for hundreds of other websites that are
running the Pluck and KickApps software by simply
searching for ‘displayUserRegisterPage.kickAction?’
which is part of the application’s syntax and will
yield over 1,800 results for community websites that

are wide open.
Let me show you exactly how to generate backlinks from
as many of these websites as you wish, keeping in mind
that you MUST use this strategy responsibly (no,
really).
If you blast your links out to hundreds of these
websites in a short amount of time, or your community
profiles on these websites feature nothing more than a
ton of backlinks, you could end up deleted.
Instead, my personal strategy is to register my
accounts on all of the community site, and over the
course of two weeks, start to develop profiles.
Add a picture or avatar, and post my links within the
blog roll fields, limiting only TWO links to each site
(and on different pages)
For example, when building backlinks for
SNGMonopoly.com, I would feature one link that
leads directly to the main site,
www.SNGMonopoly.com and another link leading to an
internal page www.SNGMonopoly.com/affiliates.html
Rinse and repeat for any many websites as you own,
including affiliate links to products that you promote.

Just make sure that you build your profile over time.
While these community sites aren’t as heavily moderated
as public forums or message boards, you want to
minimize any chance of losing all of your links simply
because you were overzealous.
Take your time and you WILL see results.
Let’s go through the backlink process using this
strategy:
Using the KickApps website itself as an example, we’d
visit their member page and register for a free
account.
Visit:
http://affiliate.kickapps.com/user/displayUserRegisterP
age.kickAction?as=41346&STATUS=MAIN
Choose a username and password and enter in your email
address to proceed. (Don’t worry about uploading a
photo at this time).

Register

You will have to check your email for the verification
link prior to being able to access your new account.
Simply click this link to confirm your request to join
the site.
Once inside your profile area click on ‘Edit Your
Profile’ to begin the process.

You can choose to fill out your profile information,
including the ‘about me’ section, or upload a photo at
this time. The more detailed your profile is, the less
likely it will be removed, however even filling out
basic information is good enough for now.

Tuzzy

What you are really interested in on this next page is
the different options available in the navigation menu,
primarily the ‘My Links’ section. Click this to
continue.

You can now click on ‘Add Link’ to add a backlink to
your site.

The next step is to create your blogroll, where you can
add additional links using anchor text. Remember, be
smart with this!

Do NOT overload your profile when you first create your
account. Instead, let it mature over a week’s time and
avoid being flagged by moderators.
You can preview your profile as you build it by
clicking on the ‘View Profile’. As you can see from the
image below, my profile has already been updated to
reflect my new backlink submission.

Now, return to your profile page and click on ‘Add a
blog post’ to update your profile with a single article
or blog post, including a blogroll with as many
backlinks as you feel comfortable adding (remember,
gradually over time always works best)

(Note every community page will offer a blogroll,
however you will always be able to add links to your
profile page as well as within your blog article
content itself)
Here are a few dozen communities using the KickApps
software to help you get started.
Remember, you can find a few communities that will
provide you with instant backlinks by visiting
www.Google.com and entering in the search string:
‘displayUserRegisterPage.kickAction?’

Note: To speed up the process and automate a large
portion of the work, I suggest downloading a copy of
RoboForm at: http://www.RoboForm.com
Mac Users: There is a fantastic alternative available
at: http://1passwd.com/
Note: It’s important to advise you that I strongly
recommend building your profile, adding even a bit of
value to your account and posting an article on your
profile’s blog that relates to the website’s overall
topic (even if this is NOT your niche).

You can outsource an article package from an affordable
writer on http://forums.digitalpoint.com for each
website you plan to use, and post it on your blog.
Then, just like you would with article marketing, add
your backlink to your article’s footer area. It would
count as a quality backlink and will minimize your
chances of having your profile removed.
Further, you can minimize these risks even more by
creating an ‘About Me’ page on your website and link to
that from these profile pages. That way, if someone
visits your page, they aren’t taken to a promotional
(salespage) increasing the chances that your profile
page (with all your backlinks) will stay intact.
I’ve generated a ton of business by creating a simple
About Me page on all of my niche websites.
Giving people (potential customers) a chance to get to
know who you are, where you’re from and what you are
all about will increase brand awareness as well as help
you generate solid backlinks to an internal page on
your site.

SEO – The Importance Of Backlinks

Posted by admin in SEO on 02 21st, 2010 | No Comments

If you are familiar with search engine marketing, it’s

likely that you have heard of the term ‘back links’.

In the event that you have absolutely no idea what back

links are all about or why the heck you need them,

here’s a quick overview of exactly what the Backlink

Formula will do for you:

When it comes to the major search engines, the number

of backlinks, combined with the overall quality of

backlinks will ultimately determine your positioning

within the search engines.

Backlinks are simply external links featured on other

websites that direct traffic to your main webpage.

(Also referred to as ‘Inbound Links’).

Backlinks are extremely important in any search engine

marketing campaign because major search engines like

Google and Yahoo place signifgant weight on websites

that have a good number of quality back links.

If you are looking to rank for specific keywords within

the search engines, you can simply use anchor text with

every back link generated to your site. Anchor text is

when you define a link using keywords, rather than just

using your website’s title or URL with every link.

For example, with anchor text a link directing to

www.InsiderAffiliates.com might look like this:

Your Instant Solution For Unlimited Affiliates Cash!

(rather than just the URL itself)

When the search engines calculate your website’s

overall relevancy in regards to keywords entered into

their search engine, they consider a number of

different elements, with one of the most important ones

being the number of back links pointing to your website

using specific keyword phrases.

Think about this for a second; if you enter in the

search query ‘dog training tips’, what do you think

will appear first within the search results window, a

website that contains 10 incoming links using ‘dog

training’ as the primary keyword, or a website that

carries over 100 quality back links featuring the exact

keyword phrase ‘dog training tips’?

It’s an obvious choice in regards to what the search

engines define as being targeted or relevant to the

phrase.

This is exactly why you not only need a good amount of

incoming backlinks to your site, but you also need to

focus on incorporating your back link strategiy with a

number of relevant keywords and phrases relating to

your website, or the products and services you are

offering.

The keywords used with backlinks aren’t the only aspect

to determining whether a search engine deems it a

quality match.

While the quantity of back links is extremely

important, sites linking to you that are similar in

content and overall focus will count as an authority

backlink, considered to be higher quality than any

other back link you can get.

This means that you not only need to develop a back

link strategy that will spur your website out to as

many websites that are willing to link to you as

possible, but that you also need to place emphasis on

how relevant the sites containing these back links are,

in regards to your own site.

One of the biggest mistakes that new marketers make

when developing a back link campaign is to generate as

many links as possible in the shortest amount of time.

Believe me, this will NOT help your rankings, in fact,

you can end up being penalized by the major search

engines for what they believe to be unnatural link

campaigns.

Think about it, a brand new site with very limited (if

any) traffic suddenly experiences a flood of 500+

backlinks.

Obviously, the search engines will be alerted to the

sudden incoming links and it’s likely that they will

believe you are trying to manipulate the search

results.

When this happens, you can ultimately lose your

existing ranking or end up being banned from the search

engine, permanently.

To avoid this, we’ll focus on slowly building a solid

back link campaign that consistently builds over time.

We will focus on the highest quality back links

possible, and by using a handful of stealth strategies,

we will also set our back link campaign up so that it

continues to run like a well oiled machine.

There are many back link guides on the market that

promise to reveal the insider strategies to generating

an unlimited number of back links.

I can tell you, from personal experience, that there

are few guides that actually follow through on their

promises, or worse, teach you how to develop back link

campaigns that fail to stand the test of time.

Imagine just how much time you’d lose if you spent

hours developing back link campaigns that were

eventually pulled by websites that believed you were

ultimately spamming their network.

All of that time (and money, if you chose to outsource

the project to freelancers) would be absolutely wasted.

Another thing to watch out for in wasting your time

attempting to generate backlinks from what are referred

to as ‘link farms’.

Link farms are set up with no other purpose, apart from

generating links to external sites.

There is no relevancy between a link farm and the sites

linking from it, it’s simply a ‘free for all’, where

anyone can go plaster their links in the hopes of

generating a handful of backlinks.

We won’t waste our time on useless tactics and instead,

we’ll focus on building highly effective backlinks that

will NEVER be removed by rogue moderators or websites,

in fact, these back link strategies are guaranteed to

work for you over the long haul, regardless what your

website is all about or the industry you are involved

in.

Before we dive into developing a solid back link

strategy, there’s something more you need to consider

about the importance of an effective back link

campaign.

Apart from the benefits of being ranked high within the

search engines for your primary keywords and phrases,

there is yet another powerful element to having a large

number of quality links pointing back to your site;

Targeted Traffic!

(And did I mention, absolutely FREE traffic?)

The more incoming links in circulation, showcasing your

website throughout communities, blogs, forums, and

article marketing directories, the more traffic your

website will receive.

It’s a no brainer, backlinks are an essential part of

building a successful traffic generation campaign.

So, without further delay, let’s start generating those

back links, beef up your search engine ranking and send

in a flood of unstoppable traffic to your site!

SEO – Title Tags

Posted by admin in SEO, Search Engine Optimization on 01 26th, 2010 | No Comments

The first step in setting up your SEO is to make sure
you have a title set for all of your pages. The title
of the page is between the <head></head> tags of your
document.
It looks like this:

<title>Your Page Title</title>

It’s important that every page on your site has a
relevant, targeted page title is important. You should
always focus on labeling your page titles so that they
can include a unique title tag consisting of your
target keywords, the phrases that you are hoping to
rank for.

Remember, whenever someone searches for something
within search engines like Google, the title of the
page appears as a clickable link, so you want to be
careful to include relevant keyword titles for every
page on your website.

Instead of just calling your index page “Your Domain
Name”, consider integrating your primary keyword within
the title.

For example, for our gold website, our main page could
include the title: Golf Guides And Training: Complete
Golf Resource Center

And an interior (sub) page featuring specs on clubs and
equipment could include the title “Gold Equipment
Reviews”.

If you have no page title at all, it will generally
show up as “Untitled Document” both within the search
engines and when people directly visit your website.
Most people aren’t going to click a link that says
“Untitled Document, are they?

You need to focus on using keywords that will directly
appeal to your target market.
Take a look at this:

Dogpile

Look at the top listing. Where it says “Dogpile Web
Search” is the title of the document.

Now, do you see this text below it?
“Dogpile Search & Rescue is expanding! Now help pets
at www.DoGreatGood.com. Dogpile. Al the best search
engines piled into one. All the best search engines …”
That is the description of the page. In addition to
setting your title, you should also include a
description.

Just include 3-4 sentences about your page, nothing too
long but make sure that you are summarizing your
website successfully, so that anyone reviewing this
snippet of text will undoubtedly understand what your
website is all about. If your description isn’t
available, Google will typically show a sample of text
from your page.

The title tag can be found in the head area of your
HTML document. It is placed between title tags, like
this:
<title>Your Website Page Title Goes Here </title>

The summary and description of your website dot not
often affect your actual search engine position
however, but simply provides a quick overview for

search engine users and spiders who crawl your website and index your pages.

In my experience it should consist of two keyword
phrases, each 2-4 words in length. I generally
separate the two phrases with a pipe symbol. This
symbol is usually found on the backslash key.

You can create the symbol by pressing SHIFT+Backslash.
It looks like this: |
So your title might look something like this:
Golf Lessons | Free Golf Tutorials
I like to find two related keyword phrases that
accurately describe the page content. Ideally, at
least one word from the first phrase will also appear
within the second one. As you see in my example,
“golf” is found in both phrases.
Page Content

The content of your page is very important to your
search rankings. While the quality of the content
itself isn’t necessarily a factor directly with
rankings, because the search engines can’t accurately
judge the quality of the content like a human can, in

another way it truly does make a difference. Here’s
how:
If the quality of your content is poor and untargeted
towards your market, you will find it difficult to not
only retain visitors that you generate from the search
engines, but it’s unlikely that external websites will
want to offer a back link to your site.

As we will discuss in the next section, back links are
critical to your search engine rankings. The better
your content is, the easier it will be to get the links
that will boost your rankings and help you maintain
your overall positioning.

The main thing you need to know about your page content
is that the old advice about keyword density is
outdated. In fact, It has been for many years. There
is no specific keyword density required to rank well.
In fact, you could theoretically rank for a phrase that
wasn’t even found on your page if you had links
pointing to the page with the phrase as anchor text!

Of course, it’s more likely that you will rank well if
you do have the phrase on the page at least twice. I
like to put it in H1 tags at the top of the page, as
well as once or twice in the actual content.

Just write naturally. If you need to repeat the phrase
six times on the page to get your point across, do so.
If you only need to stay it once, then say it once.
Write for your visitors, not search engines.

Search Engine Optimization – Keyword Phrases

Posted by admin in SEO, Search Engine Optimization on 01 25th, 2010 | No Comments

While it is possible to rank on the first page very
quickly, those rankings rarely last.

It’s very typical for a new website to rank very well
for a few days, and then drop out of the rankings
completely before returning to a lower position in a
few days to a few weeks.

It may take a few weeks for that listing to start
ranking well on a consistent basis. Sometimes it may
take months, however in most cases the wait isn’t very
long.

Since SEO does typically take some time, you should
definitely work on other traffic methods while you’re
waiting for your SEO efforts to pay off.

The good news is the fact that the other traffic
methods can greatly benefit and compliment your SEO
efforts.

For example, article marketing will not only send you
direct traffic to your site, but it provides valuable
back links that can boost your search engine rankings!

One thing to keep in mind is that not every keyword
will be possible to rank for.

Some keyword phrases are so highly competitive, that’s
it’s very unlikely you will ever be able to take
position for these keywords easily, if at all. In cases
like this, you simply shift your focus to longer (long
tail) keyword phrases or secondary keyword phrases that
pertain to your market.

When it comes to search engine optimization, it’s all
about choosing accurate, relevant keyword phrases.
Keyword research is vital when it comes to ensuring
that your website ranks well based on current search
criteria.

Fortunately, those keywords and phrases are often not
“money phrases”. They may bring you a lot of traffic,
but they probably won’t make you as much money per X
number of visitors as more highly-targeted, relevant
phrases.

Let’s say you have a golf website, and you’re an
affiliate for various golf instruction guides and
videos. Rather than ranking for “golf”, you would
probably want to rank for things like:

  • Golf training tips
  • Golf instruction guides
  • Golf lessons
  • Golf video training
  • Improve golf swing

People who are looking for these phrases would be more
interested in buying golf instruction guides than
someone searching for “golf clubs”, or just “golf” in
general.

In fact, someone searching for “golf” might not be
interested in golf at all. It could be a kid doing
research for a school report, someone trying to settle
a bet with a friend, or someone who is just taking a
look at various sports before deciding which one they
would like to try.

Someone who searches for “golf lessons” is probably
already interested in golf and is actually looking to
get started or to improve their game. They are
potential buyers.

These phrases are known as long-tail phrases. They
represent a lot of search volume, because the traffic
from hundreds of smaller phrases can sometimes add up
to more overall than your main phrase.

Keyword research is a lot easier now than it used to
be, as there are multiple free keyword research
resources available online that will help you
effectively evaluate keyword phrases that relate to
your market and are likely going to help you expand
your outreach into your target market.

Tools such as Wordtracker available at
www.Wordtracker.com or Google’s Keyword Suggestion
Tool available at:
https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal

will quickly drill down into your niche market and help
you to research, evaluate and analyze all possible
keyword combinations based on search engine type-in
activity and in the case of Google’s search engine,
existing Adwords advertisers and sponsors.

Another way to conduct keyword research is by simply
evaluating existing competition in your market (who is
ranking in top position and for what keywords).
You can peak into the source code of competing websites
as well as generate a detailed analysis sheet
consisting of back links, external traffic sources, onsite
keywords and other important data that will help
you directly compete with the top ranking sites in your
market by using services such as:

www.Compete.com and www.SEODigger.com

Search Engine Optimization – SEO

Posted by admin in SEO, Search Engine Optimization on 01 23rd, 2010 | No Comments

My favorite free traffic generation strategy is by far,
SEO or search engine optimization. Basically, it’s the
process of creating, structuring and optimizing your
website from the ground up, so that it ranks high
within search engines, driving in an unlimited supply
of organic, targeted traffic.

People visiting your website from the search engines
are likely to be your prime source of traffic, because
if you utilize relevant keywords within your content
and website pages, these people are able to find you
within search engines like Google.com because they
entered in similar keywords.

SEO is a critical element to any successful traffic
generation campaign online, so don’t overlook the
importance of effectively optimizing your website in
order to solidify your placement in the search engines,
based on your primary keywords.

When it comes to search engine marketing, most people
focus heavily on ranking within the www.Google.com
search engine due to their popularity. In addition,
since Google offers one of the most popular PPC
marketplace options (Adwords), you can also set up campaigns that will feature your advertisement within
the sponsor ads whenever a user visiting Google enters
in relevant keyword phrases pertaining to your niche.

Search engine optimization isn’t some complex and
mysterious process that requires hundreds of hours of
training or an advanced degree in order to master the
techniques, and set up your website for SEO success.
It’s actually quite simple to rank for all but the most
competitive phrases.

So what does it take to rank well?

  • Original, high quality content.
  • Relevant back links from authority sites.
  • Time and ongoing effort to secure and maintain

rankings.

  • Proper on-site optimization for every element of

your site.

  • Proper keyword research.

Finding Relevant Keywords Google Adwords Top Keywords Used In Your Niche

Posted by admin in Affiliate Marketing, Pay Per Click, SEO, Search Engine Marketing on 01 16th, 2010 | No Comments

One of the easiest ways of finding relevant keywords that are producing results is by evaluating your

existing competition who are also promoting on Google Adwords and then sniping their keywords.

I begin by searching for the top 10-15 competitors in my niche, and evaluating what keywords trigger their

ads to appear within the search engine. This can take up a bit of time but it’s one of the easiest strategies

in locating the top keywords used in your niche. For example, I sell an ebook on affiliate marketing and

by evaluating the competition on sites like www.ClickBank.com I was able to pinpoint the keyword

phrases that buyers who have either already purchased

or are interested in purchasing my competitor’s guide

was likely to enter into the search engines.  By targeting these keywords, including my competitor’s

product title and even website URL, I am able to

instantly promote my own ebook to their customers.

Better yet, the costs to advertise to these customers

will often be much lower than advertising to a broader audience, as there are fewer marketers focusing on

incorporating their competitor’s product titles, and

URL’s into their campaigns keyword list.

And since this traffic will be highly targeted, after

all it’s based on potential customers actively

searching out a specific market, not only will by cost

per click be lower, but my click through rate will go

through the roof!

Here’s an example of how I would use an existing

competitor’s keywords to swipe their customers:

Commission Blueprint?

Don’t waste time and money.

Grab my proven formula instead.

www.MY-URL.com

Simply copy and paste this ad into your Google Adwords

account and modify it so that it targets every niche

market you are interested in promoting

And here’s another insider secret to choosing killer

keywords when creating your campaigns.

Rather than plugging in keywords that you generate from

free online keyword tools, focus on action based

keywords that are likely to be entered into the search

engine by people already on the verge of buying a

product in your market (not necessarily your own).

For example:

Purchase – KEYWORD HERE

Buy – KEYWORD HERE

Order – KEYWORD HERE

These people entering in a phrase like “Buy Parenting

Tips Revealed” are actively looking for a website that

will allow them to buy “Parenting tips revealed”, so it

only makes sense to focus on including these keywords

into your campaigns.

There is another another group worth focusing on.

People looking for more information or reviews and on

the verge of buying the product but need a bit more

reassurance.

You can find these people by incorporating specific

keywords used by people looking for information on

products or services they are considering buying,

including:

Review – KEYWORD HERE

Feedback – KEYWORD HERE

Testimonials – KEYWORD HERE

Anyone seeking out reviews on a particular product are

likely interested in purchasing it, hence why they are

researching the product. Keeping this in mind, if you

tailor your advertisements to focus on drawing in these

prospects, your conversion rates will be a lot higher

than with nearly any other campaign you create.

With Google Adwords, If you produce high click through

rate campaigns, your actual cost per click will be

reduced, giving you far more exposure at a lower cost.

Negative keywords

These keywords are ones that you specifically do NOT

want used to trigger your campaign ads, in fact, if

your ads appear when someone uses these keywords, it

will ultimately cost you money.

With negative keywords, you can eliminate everyone from

freebie seekers to unrelated searches from triggering

your ads, by simply entering in the keyword with a

negative symbol in front of it, like this:

-Free Tools

You absolutely need to spend some time entering in

negative keywords for each of your campaigns so that

you can pre-screen those who are able to see your ads

and subsequently, click on your links.

Depending on what you are promoting, your negative

keywords will vary but here are a few things to keep in

mind when coming up with your negative keyword list:

Searches for photos of your market (example: if you

were selling an ebook on real estate you wouldn’t want

people who are searching for virtual real estate

(website flipping) to be clicking on your ads. They

aren’t targeted enough to warrant paying for those

clicks and aren’t likely to convert into valid leads.

You also want to eliminate search strings for warez,

nulled products, free copies of the product you are

selling or promoting, or searches for unrelated

products and markets.

You should also integrate negative keywords for product

formats that are different from what you are offering.

For example, if your products are all digital based

(ebooks, online videos, etc), you could include the

negative term “Physical, Tangible” etc, and in reverse,

if you are offering a paperback version of an online

ebook, you could implement terms including “digital”,

“ebook”, into your negative keyword swipe file.

When you enter in negative keywords, you are

essentially filtering your traffic, ensuring that only

those genuinely interested and likely to purchase your

products are clicking through to your site, so the more

specific you are, the better.

If you have a difficult time coming up with potential

negative keywords, use Google’s keyword suggestion tool

available at:

https://adwords.google.com/select/main?cmd=KeywordSandb

You are able to enter in your primary keyword and

Googles Keyword Utility will provide you with stats and

data involving related keyword searches.

Visit the keyword tool and enter in your primary

keyword based on the product you are selling.

In my example, I entered in ‘dog training’, based on

the dog training report I am offering.

The results will provide me with a list of keywords

that relate to the term “dog training”, ranked by

relevance.

You will be able to locate negative keywords from this

list, so run each of your main product titles and well

as primary keyword phrases (the main ones for each

market) into the Google Keyword tool to view the

different keyword strings that you do not want to

target, then enter those into your negative keyword

swipe file.

This will also help you expand on your positive

keywords and phrases as well. Just run each niche

through the google keyword tool to create your swipe

files, you will use these on a regular basis later on.

One thing you want to do before you decide to use any

specific keywords is to use Googles Traffic Estimator

tool to determine how much traffic these keywords are

likely to generate.

https://adwords.google.com/select/TrafficEstimatorSandb

ox

Just download your list of keywords in text format, and

enter them into the text box on the Traffic Estimator

page, and the tool will show you estimated traffic

based on your entry.

This tool will also show you your estimated ad position

within the Sponsored listings, your estimated Cost Per

Click and your estimated Clicks per day based on the

different keywords you have entered.

This post is part 2 of Search Engine Marketing strategies 101 a series of posts .  If you haven’t read the first post yet I would highly suggest you do so now because you won’t want to miss any details in one of the most important parts of marketing a website online.   I have a ton of information I want to go over regarding the use of SEM also known as Search Engine Marketing, and eventually I will be making blog posts about how to integrate SEM with SEO to form a optimum strategy for reducing PPC costs, and increasing ROI.  Thanks for joining me again for another great post about Search Engine Marketing.  In case you aren’t familiar with my background I want to let you know that I am a full-time Search Engine Optimization Specialist located in the greater Kansas city area.  I started my career in ecommerce and SEO several years ago with a 20 year veteran Deloitte Touche consultant.  My new found career at the time was located in a Overland Park Kansas.  Ok so enough about me, lets continue our SEM strategy.
Typically, I choose English and include countries like Canada, United States, UK, and Australia, however you
can easily edit your targeted locations at any time should you wish to make changes to the groups of people
that will be able to see your ads later on.  The flexibility offered through language and location targeting allows advertisers to develop content tailored to specific groups, nationalities and locations.  This is an exceptional benefit of the Adwords system if
you are planning to cater to specific languages such as French or Spanish, or you are interested in only having
your advertisements appear to residents of certain countries.  In order to completely activate your account, you will
have to enter in your billing information. You can do this at a later date, once you have set up your campaigns and are ready to launch them.  You will also be required to pay a one-time activation fee. Once you have activated your account and set up
your campaigns, you will begin to see your ads later on.

Search Engine Marketing: PPC Secrets advertisements appear within minutes.  When you create campaigns, you will design each one so that it’s focused on specific groups. In order to do that, you will enter in keyword phrases associated to the markets that you advertise to.  Another great benefit of using Google is that they place no minimum order restrictions on accounts. This
means that you can start advertising on Google without having to invest a lot of money.  In addition, you can easily edit your budget at any time should you wish to start off small and increase it as you become more experienced using the system.
Remember, you are not charged each time your ad appears within Googles Sponsored Listings, and instead, are
only charged each time someone clicks on your.  Within your Adwords account, you are able to create as
many campaigns as you wish.  Each campaign typically focuses on individual promotions.  For example, if I were involved in two different markets, such as Weight Loss and Relationships, I would set up two different campaigns using keywords and
advertisements focusing on those two specific markets.  You never want to combine your advertisements, because
after you have a dozen or so in place, it would become difficult to manage, so keep it all organized as you go along.
Which brings me to another quick point; when it comes to PPC marketing, you NEED to stay on top of your campaigns.
You want to always know how your advertisements are performing, whether they require tweaking, or if they
can simply be improved in some way (and believe me, most can, especially when you are just starting out).
While this guide will reveal proven strategies in reducing the chances of failed campaigns and helping you squeeze out every bit of exposure you can from your PPC costs, you still need to be proactive in consistently monitoring your campaigns overall
performance.  Never forget this, it can be the difference between sinking hundreds of dollars into a campaign unnecessarily, or in saving a bundle by making a few simple adjustments.

Ok folks that is it for today, I have to go be a Search Engine Marketing Specialist and SEO expert in Kansas City for now, and I will be back to revisit this SEM strategy tommorow.  So stay tuned, this learning process as just begun!

Overland Park SEM Analyst | Kansas City SEO Expert | Search Engine Marketing Strategies 101

Posted by admin in SEO, Search Engine Marketing on 12 22nd, 2009 | 2 Comments

In this article I want to give a brief overview of what I believe Search Engine Marketing (SEM) is.   Now before I start I want to point out that I have a career as being a Search Engine Optimization a.k.a SEO Expert/Analyst  in Kansas City Missouri.   I do some SEM consulting for  companies located in Kansas City, and Overland Park Kansas.

Search engine marketing, otherwise known as PPC marketing is one of the fastest methods of jump starting a website or marketing campaign.  With just a few simple campaigns, you can generate instant traffic to your website, effortlessly.  It’s hands down, the fastest traffic generation strategy available to you and by following my SEM Analyst step by step blog posts to setting up a
high converting PPC campaign, you will be able to generate high quality traffic to your website at the lowest overhead cost possible.  It’s instant juice for your website, and if set up properly, it can also be one of the most cost effective weapons in your traffic generation arsenal.

If you aren’t familiar with what PPC (pay per click) marketing is, just head on over to http://www.Google.com/

and enter in a keyword string (any keywords under the sun, for example: Advertising Jobs Kansas City)

Adwords ads are the results that appear under the “Sponsored Listings” on the right hand side of the
search results window, as well as the ones that are highlighted above the search results.
For example, if a user visiting Google.com enters in the search term “dog training”, Google automatically
displays a listing of related sponsor ads that run along the right side column of the search results page.
These ads would include the keyword “scrapbooks” and might look something like this:

SEMAnalystKansasCity

These are advertisements that PPC marketers using the Adwords system have created. They appear in block format and feature an ad title, two lines of ad copy, and a link that directs readers to their landing page.  Advertisers can create as many advertising blocks (and campaigns) as they wish and by bidding on keywords, their advertisements will appear within different positions.

If you have yet to create an account, head on over to http://www.adwords.google.com/select to get started.

Click on Start Now to begin the registration process.  The next page will offer you the ability to create either a Starter Account or a Standard Edition. Within this post, we will use the Standard Advertising option, so that our primary focus is establishing
exposure within the entire Google Adwords network, rather than specific websites in our niche market.  Select Standard Edition and click “Continue”.  In order to continue, you will need a Google account.  This can include a gmail account, Orkut or even iGoogle.  If you do not currently have a Google based account, select “I do not use these other services” to be given additional options, such as using your domain based email account or perhaps the one provided to you by your Internet Service Provider.  You will now choose the currency that you would like to use with your Google Adwords account.  Select your local currency, and click Continue.
You will now be directed to a processing page while Google sets up your new Adwords account.  Upon completion, you will reach an account registration thank you page that indicates you must confirm your request by checking your email and clicking on the
validation link contained in your introductory welcome email.  Once you have verified your request, you will be able
to log into your Google Adwords account and set up your campaigns, something we will cover in great detail in
an upcoming chapter.  For now, just validate your request and complete the account set up process.  Google will also ask for information concerning your target audience including whether you wish to focus on specific groups by language or location.

Stay tuned for the next post continuing this Search Engine Marketing Strategy Overiew.

Key Attributes To Ensure Excellent Quality Score

Posted by admin in SEO on 09 8th, 2009 | No Comments

Once you have a good start on your website, and it appears to have the specific look and feel to your liking it is important to maintain that in order to continue the greatest amount of Adsense, Affiliate offers, or whatever avenue you use to obtain earnings.

In order to harness this one must establish a few routines along the way.  In my previous posts on this blog I mentioned the key attributes: traffic building, keyword research, and quality content, but in this section I would like to narrow them down a bit further for a greater understanding.  These key attributes must be kept up to date in order to have your website working to the best of your ability, and they aren’t it could end up hurting your website and ultimately put your website out of usefulness.

Traffic Building:

Submitting Website Feeds

If you have a blog then it is important to submit its feed to popular feed directories.  Submitting feeds offers several advantages like: faster web page indexing, increase traffic, increase subscriber lists, and even possibly syndication on other sites.

In most cases your websites feed URL will look something like this:  http://www.yourwebsitesname.com/feed

Other feed URL names can be easily obtained just by logging into your blog and choosing what feed you want like: rss feeds, atom feeds, or XML feeds.

Those are the most commonly used website feeds.  If you are unsure which feed to use then I would suggest contacting your hosting provider with questions of this nature, or your webmaster.  If you can’t figure it out then a simple Google search for website feed formats should do the trick.

Here is a list of websites that you should submit your websites feed to:

Medical Feeds

Security Protection Feeds

Postami

Realty Feeds

Userland

Finance Investing Feeds

Technorati

Syndic8

RSS Network

Feedster

DayPop

Keyword Research:

When you initially started your website you most likely did some keyword research; if you paid attention and did what I suggested earlier in this guide ;) .  Perhaps you website has or hasn’t done so well with the keywords that you chose to use.  It is important to understand that regular keyword research is necessary to sustain or obtain a successful website.

Keywords that you initially researched and implemented that turned out to be popular and effective in your traffic building campaign, may not be so popular a couple months down the way.

Tracking your keywords, and keyword phrases is highly important and something you must learn.  To make good money with Adsense, tracking your keywords needs to be apart of your routine.  In specific you want to track keywords ranking, and value.

Stay focused on what keywords are effectively bringing visitors to your website, and which ones are not.  Replacing your websites keywords with more effective keywords becomes apart of a successful webmasters job.

Using good tracking tools makes your keyword research campaign easier.  Google offers a free system called “Google Anayltics”.  It can be confusing to some, with its wide variety of features.

If you want something simple try: Webalizer which is located witin your websites Cpanel.  If you aren’t sure how to find it, then you may want to contact your websites hosting provider and find out what web stats tracking they provide.  The most common one is Webalizer, there is also one called Awstats.  These two work just fine.

If you do open either Webalizer or Awstats, just pay attention to what web pages are receiveing the most visitors.  Along with that, you will want to make use of the keywords section for which users found your website.  Try and see if you can implement the ones that visitors found your website with more frequently throughout your website.  Try making use of the strategy I mentioned earlier in this guide called “Internal Links”.

Quality Content:

Earlier in this guide we glassed over Quality Content, but in this section I want to further layout what else is necessary for developing a Quality Content rich website.  We will go over a few more important attributes that you will want to implement in order to achieve the most money out of your Adsense.

It is important to understand how to properly make Quality Content while at the same time utilize keywords to establish a nice readable set of web pages.  Too often you will find web masters trying to make the most out of there web pages by stuffing them with keywords they researched.  It compromises the visitor’s experience, and so that is why you must make a conscious effort not to do this.

You have to provide visitors with interesting topics, not ones that have been used before.  Fresh content is Quality Content.  Most often web masters are trying to obtain high search engine rankings and don’t even stop to realize that they are not going to get return visitors by having an article stuffed with keywords or not aesthetically pleasing.

Each web page you write or make on a website must look similar to the rest of the site.  Cascading style sheets are nice to have to maintain an effective way of consistency, while at the same time it provides a timely way of posting new web pages.

There is some key tips for writing web pages that fit well on the web.  Writing for the audience on a website is key to retaining an effective subscriber list.

Here is a few tricks to effectively laying out web pages for the web.

1.)        Make sure your pages are outfitted with short and concise sentences that get the point across without confusing the reader.

Many times webmasters like to bolster their egos by writing sentences that can often confuse a reader who doesn’t have the vocabulary they do.

Let’s make one thing clear, it isn’t a good idea to make a reader feel inferior to your website.

2.)        Try and rely your key points in a few sentences then following it with a space or two.  Using bullet points are also an effective way to make readers more interested in reading a web page that isn’t so bunched together.  People these days are impatient and you have to spread sentences out in an effective manner in order to get them to read.

Often times readers like to skim through a web page to see if anything interesting they like pops out to them and this is apart of the decision process on whether they will stay on your page, and even sometimes a deciding factor on whether they will come back.

3.)        Make use of sub headings to simplify a reader’s access to certain areas of a web page that they find to be interesting. Just like a sales copy for a landing page had sub headers.  You have to sell a reader on the information you are portraying.  Make them stop when they scan a web page of yours.

4.)        Try and keep a readers attention by applying an active voice to all pages as much as possible.  Steer clear of using past tense.  A good rule of them is to ask yourself when you are using past tense if you care referring to something you have previously wrote a web page on.

This way if you do lose their attention on the current subject you can have a hyperlink to a previous article they might find more interesting.   This way you accomplish inter linking structure and effective attention getting web pages.

5.)        It is important to make sure you have someone take a look at what your web pages look like before posting them.

If you can have someone run a grammar check on it after you have finished then you give yourself another chance to leave a professional appeal to a reader.  Spell check is rather vital too.

Overall when you write web pages it is important to use a decent, yet not overbearing amount of specifically researched keywords for any web page you post.  Yes it’s important to not stuff pages with keywords but it’s a good plan to have keywords that are related to your web sites topic.  Try and make use of keywords in your web pages anchor text of the hyperlinks.

How to optmize your blog for the search engines & avoiding duplicate content penalty

Posted by admin in SEO on 09 3rd, 2009 | No Comments

Blogging is a very popular way of making money online and most people
who blog don’t do it as a hobby – or if they do they also use it to make a bit
of extra cash. OpWmising your blog for the web and search engines is the key
to making a lot of money and to promoWng your business or product in the
right way.
Blogging to promote your business is a very good way of gaining customers
and return visitors so making sure you opWmise your blog in the best
possible way is important.
A lot of people think that content is the king of all internet markeWng and
this is true to a certain extent. There are many ways to improve your search
engine rankings and SEO content is just one of them.
Also, it is always a good idea to make sure you’re not creaWng duplicate
content which may affect your rankings with the search engines.
SEO for any website is something you have to learn if you want to make it big
online. SEO for blogs is a liXle bit different because you aren’t in as much
control over your web pages when using a blog when compared to an
ordinary website.

Duplicate content is a bit of a confusing subject because there are so many
cases of duplicate content on the web that it may seem as though it doesn’t
maXer. However, when creaWng or buying content for the web you need to
make sure you’re not using the same content as other websites.
You’ll also want to make sure that your own website doesn’t have similar
paragraphs all over it because the search engines don’t like this too much
and it can seriously affect your search engine rankings.
It’s best to keep yourself up to date with content and regularly add new and
fresh content, which isn’t copied in order to keep yourself safe.
So, there are a few tried and tested ways which are definitely worth doing in
order to improve your search engine rankings and to opWmize your blog for
the search engines properly.

This guide assumes you have basic knowledge of SEO before you begin. The
first thing you should do is make sure that you set your URLs and Permalinks
to display the keywords you are targeWng.
For example, if you were to create a post about pets and you were
specifically talking about dog food then you’d want your blog post URL to
read www.yourblog.com/pets/dog-food or something along those lines. The
default in WordPress is to display the posts as numbers such as

www.yourblog.com/?p=1234 which isn’t as search engine friendly as the
category and post Wtle URL.
Making the URLs of your blog posts search engine friendly is easy. Simply log
into your WordPress blog and go to “opWons”, “permalinks” and in the
“common opWons” secWon, click on “custom, specify below”.

You will now need to enter the following text:
/%category%/%postname%/
Once you have entered this, select “update permalink structure” and you’re
done. You can now check all your blog posts and see how they look.
Remember, this helps both consumers/customers and of course the search
engines.
If you prefer you can also eliminate the category structure and input the
following into permalinks.
This parWcular structure will have all your pages appearing to be within the
root of your website instead of being within a specified category.
/%postname%.htm
Input the above into your permalinks structure and click save, and your
pages will be SEO friendly.
